MYPs Turn Greenway Into Clean-Way

MYPs from Bradford North joined members of the local community for a community clean up as part of Keep Britain Tidy's 'Big Clean Up' Campaign. The clean up also marked the completion of the MYPs priority work in the area.

At the constituency conference in April 2007 local young people asked the MYPs to work towards cleaning up rubbish and improving personal safety in the Greenway area.

The MYPs visited the area to assess the needs of the area. They discovered broken street lights that made some areas very dark and unsafe for young people and that large amounts of rubbish had been dumped in the area.

The MYPs asked Bradford Council to fix the street lights and organised a community clean up for the 26th of August to coincide with the 'Big Tidy Up' campaign and with help from local people and Bradford Council's Cleansing Department they removed the rubbish from the area.
