GLUW

Do you live in care? Do you want to help make things better for other young people in care? If you do then GLUW wants to hear from you.
GLUW stands for ‘Get the Life U Want’. GLUW is a group of young people living in care who are carrying out research into young people’s experiences of education and training. They have put together a questionnaire to find out what young people in care would like to change.
The survey will be sent out to every young person in care aged 10 and above so keep an eye out for it. You can also download a copy here.
You can get involved in GLUW in a number of different ways. The group meets every Wednesday from 4.30 to 7.30 at Bradford Youth Service HQ on City Road in Bradford. You can come along to help the group carry out its research and have some fun at the same time! The group is always looking for new members to join in.
Once the survey is complete the group will be compiling the results and holding focus groups before making a film of the results using puppets to highlight what young people said in the survey. Once the film is complete there will be a screening of the film to highlight the group’s recommendations and to tell decision makers what young people want to change.
If you want to get involved in the focus groups, puppet making workshops or attend the launch of the film keep an eye on the GLUW pages of the BKYP website www.bkyp.com or contact Norrina Rashid on 01274 432135 or email norrina.rashid@bradford.gov.uk.
